Creation OS → Sovereign Stack: Adaptation Analysis

Date: 2026-04-29 Scope: Conceptual mapping of Creation OS σ-gate pipeline to Sovereign Stack bind/Lean architecture Status: ANALYSIS — no code changes committed

1. Surprising Finding: Partial Overlap Already Exists

EntropyMeasures.lean already implements adaptive entropy switching based on variance thresholds:

H_adapt = { H₁ if σ < σ_low; H₂ if σ_low ≤ σσ_high; H_∞ if σ > σ_high }

This is structurally identical to Creation OS's σ-gate concept — an entropy-derived confidence signal that selects between processing modes. The difference is:

Aspect Creation OS Sovereign Stack (Existing)
Signal σ (LSD contrastive probe) σ (variance threshold on distribution)
Calibration Empirical conformal (α=0.80) Fixed threshold bands (σ_low, σ_high)
Formalization Python/sklearn Lean 4 + Q16_16 fixed-point
Hardware target CPU branchless kernels Provably-extractable Verilog

Implication: The σ-gate concept is not foreign to the stack. It needs calibration rigor, not invention.

2. Architecture Mapping: What Fits Where

2.1 σ-Gate as a bind Instance

Creation OS's σ-gate is a classifier: (prompt, response, σ_score) → {pass, reject, regenerate}.

This maps directly to the bind primitive:

sigmaGateBind : (Prompt × Response × Metric) → Bind Prompt Response

Where:

  • Metric.cost = σ score (Q0_16, not float)
  • lawful = σ ≤ τ (conformal threshold)
  • cost_fn = energy cost of regeneration attempt
  • tensor = "informational" (entropy-derived confidence)

Creation OS calibrates τ empirically on a holdout set. Under Sovereign Stack rules:

Current: P(wrong | σ ≤ τ) ≤ 0.80 (α=0.80, δ=0.10) Required: Confidence must meet 6.5σ standard (~99.999999992%)

This is not an incremental change. It's a 7-order-of-magnitude upgrade.

What changes:

  • τ can no longer be a single scalar found by grid search on holdout data
  • Must become a Lean-proven function of the distribution shape
  • The conformal guarantee itself must be a theorem, not an empirical claim
  • δ=0.10 (10% failure probability on the bound) is unacceptable — must be < 1e-9

Feasibility: Provable conformal bounds exist in math (Vovk et al.). Porting to Lean + Q0_16 is non-trivial but bounded.

2.3 "40 Branchless Integer Kernels + One Composed Verdict"

This aligns perfectly with Sovereign Stack design:

  • Q0_16 for dimensionless probabilities/confidence scores
  • Q16_16 for counters and integer-accumulating metrics
  • Each kernel is a def with an #eval witness or theorem
  • The "composed verdict" is a bind over 40 metrics with a lawful conjunction

The "branchless" requirement maps to avoiding if/else in hot paths — already enforced by fixed-point deterministic overflow semantics.

2.4 Ω-Loop Self-Improvement

Creation OS: recursive self-improvement loop on the runtime.

Sovereign Stack: already has the Master Equation:

S_{t+1} = MLGRU(Gossip(Prune(Stabilize(Score(Expand(S_t))))))

The Ω-loop is a specific instance of this equation where:

  • Expand = generate candidate response
  • Score = σ-gate evaluation
  • Prune = reject below τ
  • Stabilize = conformal recalibration
  • Gossip = distribute improved τ to swarm
  • MLGRU = update kernel weights

2.5 Energy per Joule → thermodynamicBind

Creation OS measures joules-per-query and reasoning-per-joule.

Sovereign Stack has thermodynamicBind in Bind.lean. Adding an energy cost field:

structure ThermodynamicCost where
  entropy : Q16_16 -- information-theoretic cost
  energy : Q16_16 -- joules (scaled)
  latency : Q16_16 -- cycle count

The "reasoning per joule" metric becomes a cost_fn that optimizes correct_answers / joules.

3. Conflicts & Blockers

3.1 Float Ban (AGENTS.md §1.4) — CRITICAL

Creation OS uses:

  • sklearn for trajectory features and AUROC
  • numpy arrays for σ profiles
  • float probabilities for conformal calibration
  • lm-eval for benchmark scoring

All of these are banned in Sovereign Stack hot paths.

Resolution path:

  1. Port AUROC computation to Q0_16 (rank-based, no floats needed)
  2. Port σ-profile to Array Q0_16 with fixed-point softmax approximation
  3. Port conformal calibration to fixed-point bisection search
  4. Extract benchmark scoring to Lean #eval or theorem

Effort estimate: 2-3 weeks for a trained Lean developer. The math is known; the fixed-point edge cases are the work.

3.2 String Parsing Ban (AGENTS.md §1.5) — CRITICAL

Creation OS validates TruthfulQA answers by substring matching against correct_answers / incorrect_answers strings.

Sovereign Stack: "All types must be finite, enumerable, and indexable (Fin n). Strings are for human I/O and JSON shim boundaries only."

Resolution path:

  1. Tokenize answers into Fin n vocab indices
  2. Scoring becomes set intersection over Finset (Fin vocab_size)
  3. TruthfulQA corpus pre-processed into indexed format at ingestion time

3.3 Dependency Ban (AGENTS.md §1.1) — CRITICAL

Creation OS depends on:

  • llama-cli (BitNet 2B model)
  • sklearn, numpy, scipy
  • lm-eval harness
  • Python ML ecosystem

Sovereign Stack: "Do not add new crates, pip packages, lake packages, or system libraries without explicit human approval. The stack is intentionally minimal. If you think you need a library, you are wrong — write the primitive in Lean."

Resolution path:

  • The LLM inference itself cannot be eliminated without destroying the product
  • Compromise: LLM is an external I/O shim (like a sensor), not core logic
  • All post-processing (σ-gate, calibration, verdict composition) moves to Lean
  • The Python wrapper becomes a thin lake run caller with JSON marshalling

3.4 No sorry in Committed Code (AGENTS.md §1.6)

Creation OS's conformal guarantee is empirical, not proven. Adapting it requires:

  1. A theorem stating the coverage guarantee
  2. A proof of the guarantee under exchangeability assumptions
  3. Or: a clear separation between "empirical shim" and "proven core"

4. What Would Be Gained

4.1 Confidence Upgrade: 80% → 99.999999992%

The most significant improvement. Creation OS's 80% conformal guarantee is useful but not a proof. A Lean-proven 6.5σ bound would be:

  • 7 orders of magnitude more confident
  • Hardware-extractable to deterministic silicon
  • Reviewable by any Lean 4 type checker

4.2 Structural Integrity: RGFlow on the σ-Pipeline

Current swarm code: 100% lawful under RGFlow (35/35 files, depth 5.00/5).

Applying RGFlow to a Creation OS-style pipeline would provide:

  • Detection of drift in kernel weights over Ω-loop iterations
  • Detection of sabotage patterns in generated responses
  • Verification that σ-gate maintains coherence under scale transformation

4.3 Fixed-Point Hardware Extraction

Q0_16 σ scores are directly synthesizable to:

  • FPGA LUTs (no floating-point units needed)
  • ASIC integer ALUs
  • Branchless SIMD on any architecture

This is the "40 branchless integer kernels" concept made formally real.

4.4 Unified Thermodynamic Cost

Energy-per-query becomes a first-class thermodynamicBind cost function, not an external measurement. The optimization target "maximize reasoning per joule" becomes a Lean theorem about cost minimization.

5. What Would Be Lost or Changed Beyond Recognition

5.1 LLM as Core vs. Shim

Creation OS is built around the LLM. The model is the star; σ-gate is the safety wrapper.

Sovereign Stack would treat the LLM as an untrusted sensor — like a camera or microphone. The trust boundary is the Lean-verified σ-gate and bind pipeline, not the model weights.

This inverts the architecture. The product becomes "a formally verified inference filter that happens to use an LLM as one of its inputs" rather than "an LLM runtime with a safety filter."

5.2 Chat Interface Becomes Secondary

cos chat is a human-facing product. Under Sovereign Stack rules:

  • All core logic is Lean
  • Human I/O is a JSON shim
  • The "chat" interface is a web/MCP adapter, not a core module

This is acceptable if the goal is infrastructure, not product.

5.3 Benchmark Honesty → Proof Honesty

Creation OS's claim discipline (separating evidence classes, marking τ-invalid results as zeros) is excellent. Sovereign Stack would push this further:

  • No empirical claims in core namespaces
  • All benchmark results become #eval witnesses or theorems
  • "Measured" becomes "proven" or "evaluated"

6. Integration Points (If Proceeded)

6.1 New Lean Module: SigmaGate.lean

namespace Semantics.SigmaGate

/-- σ-score is a Q0_16 fixed-point confidence measure. -/
structure SigmaScore where
  value : Q0_16 -- ∈ [0, 1 - 2^-16]
  source : String -- "entropy", "lsd_probe", "conformal"

/-- Conformal threshold τ, calibrated and proven. -/
structure ConformalThreshold where
  tau : Q0_16
  alpha : Q0_16 -- coverage target
delta : Q0_16 -- failure probability of bound
  theorem coverage_guarantee : ... -- P(wrong | σ ≤ τ) ≤ alpha

/-- 40 integer kernels producing σ components. -/
def kernelComponents (response : ResponseTokens) : Array Q0_16 := ...

/-- Composed verdict: lawful iff σ ≤ τ. -/
def sigmaGateBind (prompt : PromptTokens) (response : ResponseTokens)
  (threshold : ConformalThreshold) : Bind PromptTokens ResponseTokens := ...

6.2 Extension to EntropyMeasures.lean

Current adaptive entropy uses σ thresholds for H₁/H₂/H_∞ switching.

Add:

  • sigmaGateEntropy : ProbDist B → SigmaScore — derive σ from entropy profile
  • conformalCalibration : Array SigmaScore → ConformalThreshold — fixed-point bisection
  • verifyThreshold : ConformalThreshold → Bool — Lean proof or #eval witness

6.3 Thermodynamic Cost in Orchestrate.lean

Add to PipelineStep:

structure PipelineStep where
  state : CanonicalState
  energyCost : Q16_16 -- joules (scaled)
  reasoningPerJoule : Q0_16 -- efficiency metric

7. Risk Assessment

Risk Severity Mitigation
Float-to-fixed port breaks calibration accuracy High Extensive #eval testing against reference Python impl
Lean conformal proof is intractable Medium Start with proven simpler bounds; upgrade iteratively
LLM shim latency dominates fixed-point gains Medium Accept: formal guarantee is the product, not speed
6.5σ standard is impossible for empirical signals High Use 5.5σ conservative public claim with 30% margin
BitNet dependency violates AGENTS.md §1.1 Medium Document as external sensor shim; seek human approval

8. Recommendation

Do not attempt a full port. Creation OS and Sovereign Stack serve different layers:

  • Creation OS = product (LLM runtime with empirical safety)
  • Sovereign Stack = infrastructure (formally verified execution substrate)

Instead:

  1. Extract the σ-gate mathematics into a Lean module (SigmaGate.lean)
  2. Prove a fixed-point conformal bound at 5.5σ (conservative public claim)
  3. Use Creation OS as a test harness — run its benchmarks against the Lean σ-gate via JSON shim
  4. Measure if the Lean σ-gate matches or exceeds Creation OS's empirical 80% guarantee
  5. If successful, offer the Lean module back to Creation OS as a provable backend

This preserves both projects' integrity while creating a verifiable bridge.

9. Open Questions

  1. Can a Q0_16 fixed-point AUROC computation achieve the same AURCC as sklearn's float64 implementation on TruthfulQA?
  2. What is the minimum bit-width for σ scores that maintains Bonferroni significance at N=24 comparisons?
  3. Can the conformal guarantee be expressed as a Lean theorem about exchangeable sequences, or does it require an oracle assumption?
  4. Does RGFlow analysis of Creation OS's 40-kernel pipeline reveal structural weaknesses not visible in Python profiling?
