Anti-Music Silent Representation Safety

Purpose

This note records an important safety and usability correction for Anti-Music Theory.

The concept may trigger aversion because the brain imagines it must be heard as sound. That is not required.

Anti-Music Theory is primarily a silent mathematical and spectral representation. It can be explored as finite number sets, FFT masks, interval vectors, residue classes, graph spectra, and perturbation operators without rendering audio.

Core Correction

Anti-Music does not need to be listened to.
Anti-Music can remain a silent number-theoretic / spectral object.

The work should default to:

no audio rendering
no forced listening
no psychoacoustic exposure
no generating unpleasant sounds unless explicitly requested

Safe Representation Layer

Use these representations first:

finite number sets A subset {1,...,N}
interval vectors
pitch-class vectors without playback
FFT magnitude spectra
phase masks
spectral void maps
roughness scores as numbers
harmonicity scores as numbers
remainder-resonance scores
difference-set and sum-set audits

Why the Brain Reacts

The phrase Anti-Music recruits auditory prediction machinery. The brain may simulate the expected sound and object because it anticipates unstable, dissonant, or rough acoustic content.

That reaction is useful only as a warning label:

this concept stresses stability priors
therefore keep it symbolic until proven useful

It is not evidence by itself.

Silent Algorithm

1. Define candidate number set A.
2. Compute spectral fingerprint S_A[k].
3. Compute anti-music score numerically.
4. Compare to filtered remainder R_N[k].
5. Average resonance over finite windows.
6. Run difference-set and sum-set audits.
7. Only render audio if an explicit psychoacoustic experiment is intended.

Audio Firewall

Default firewall:

AUDIO_RENDER = false

Audio rendering requires explicit override:

AUDIO_RENDER = true only if:
  user explicitly requests audio generation or playback
  amplitude is bounded
  duration is finite
  frequency range is safe
  volume warning is provided
  output is optional and non-autoplaying

Research Boundary

Do not claim:

feeling aversion proves the math
hearing the sound is required
unpleasantness equals useful perturbation

Allowed claim:

The aversion indicates that the concept touches auditory stability priors, so Anti-Music should be handled as a silent symbolic perturbation operator unless and until audio testing is explicitly needed.

Gate: U_scope
Reason: Anti-Music is coherent as a symbolic finite spectral search method, but psychoacoustic rendering is optional and should remain disabled by default.
