Equation Sniffers
Status: READY_FOR_SPEC_MODULE
Definition
An Equation Sniffer is a software-only resonance probe for the equation forest.
It does not patrol, pursue, enforce, surveil, or act in the physical world. It follows mathematical scent trails: structural resonances, witness hierarchies, residual motifs, adapter candidates, and provenance paths.
Core purpose
Equation Sniffers automate bounded exploration of mathematical terrain without implying physical autonomy.
They operate on:
- equation graphs
- document manifolds
- witness hierarchies
- residual fields
- behavioral manifolds
- route candidates
- provenance trails
They do not operate as drones, guards, patrol agents, or enforcement systems.
Canonical law
An Equation Sniffer does not patrol the forest. It smells for structure.
Short form:
It follows mathematical scent, not targets.
Allowed actions
- probe candidate equation regions
- extract witness hierarchy
- compare residuals
- detect repeated operator shapes
- tag possible adapters
- suggest routes
- record provenance
- emit route candidates for review
- hand stable witnesses to BHOCS
- hand unresolved residuals to FAMM
Forbidden actions
- physical actuation
- surveillance
- pursuit
- enforcement
- weaponization
- autonomous real-world intervention
- target tracking
- patrol behavior

Role variants
| Sniffer type | Detects | Output |
|---|---|---|
| CarrierSniffer | dominant witness | main route / identity |
| TextureSniffer | residual motifs | local nuance |
| BasinSniffer | slow context drift | macro basin |
| AdapterSniffer | bridge candidates | possible geodesic |
| MonsterSniffer | symmetry-heavy anomaly | audit candidate |
| MarketSniffer | shared behavioral operator | cross-sector match |
Relation to Field-Native Witness Hierarchy
Equation Sniffers consume witness packets produced by the Field-Native Witness Hierarchy.
A witness packet provides:
basis + witness coordinate + amplitude + phase + action + residual receipt
The Equation Sniffer uses that packet to compare the current region against known scent trails:
current witness hierarchy
-> compare against known route signatures
-> rank adapter candidates
-> log unresolved residuals
-> suggest next probe
Claim boundaries
- Equation Sniffers are software-only analysis agents.
- They are not physical drones.
- They do not imply patrol, pursuit, surveillance, or enforcement.
- They provide route suggestions and provenance records, not autonomous real-world action.
- A sniffer result is a candidate scent trail, not a proof unless attached evidence or formal verification exists.
One-line summary
Equation Sniffers are bounded software probes that smell for reusable mathematical structure in the equation forest and report routes without acting outside the analysis substrate.
