# Troubleshooting Guide - BF16 Teleport Compression System
## Compilation Errors and Solutions
### E0616: Private Field Access
**Error**: `field 'bf16_model' of struct 'MixtureOfExperts' is private`
**Location**: Multiple files accessing `self.moe.bf16_model`
**Solution**: Add public getter methods to `MixtureOfExperts` struct
```rust
// Add to MixtureOfExperts implementation
impl MixtureOfExperts {
pub fn get_bf16_model(&self) -> &BF16ModelInterface {
&self.bf16_model
}
}
// Replace all instances of:
self.moe.bf16_model.process_with_bf16(...)
// With:
self.moe.get_bf16_model().process_with_bf16(...)
```
### E0599: Missing Decompress Method
**Error**: `no method named 'decompress' found for struct 'TeleportCompressor'`
**Location**: `kanban.rs:214`
**Solution**: Implement decompress method in TeleportCompressor
```rust
impl TeleportCompressor {
pub async fn decompress(&self, compressed: &str) -> Result<String> {
// Implementation to reverse compression operations
// Handle all compression levels: semantic, patterns, context, quantum
todo!("Implement decompression logic")
}
}
```
### E0282: Type Annotations Needed
**Error**: `type annotations needed`
**Location**: Multiple locations with generic type inference failures
**Solution**: Add explicit type annotations
```rust
// Before:
let query_tokens = self.moe.bf16_model.process_with_bf16(query).await?;
let task_tokens = self.moe.bf16_model.process_with_bf16(task_description).await?;
// After:
let query_tokens: Vec<BF16> = self.moe.bf16_model.process_with_bf16(query).await?;
let task_tokens: Vec<BF16> = self.moe.bf16_model.process_with_bf16(task_description).await?;
```
### E0308: Type Mismatch
**Error**: `expected 'Option<String>', found 'String'`
**Location**: `kanban.rs:257, 269`
**Solution**: Wrap values in Some()
```rust
// Before:
task.assignee = assignee;
task.due_date = due_date;
// After:
task.assignee = Some(assignee);
task.due_date = Some(due_date);
```
### E0507: Cannot Move Out of Shared Reference
**Error**: `cannot move out of a shared reference`
**Location**: `kanban.rs:369`
**Solution**: Clone the value before using
```rust
// Before:
.map(|cache| cache.value().compression_level as u8 as f32)
// After:
.map(|cache| cache.value().compression_level.clone() as u8 as f32)
```
### E0277: Trait Bound Not Satisfied
**Error**: `the trait bound 'blake3::Hash: LowerHex' is not satisfied`
**Location**: `teleport.rs:295, moe.rs:430`
**Solution**: Use `.to_string()` instead of direct formatting
```rust
// Before:
format!("{:x}", blake3::hash(content.as_bytes()))
// After:
format!("{:x}", blake3::hash(content.as_bytes()).to_hex())
```
## Prevention Strategies
### 1. Access Control Design
- Always provide public getter methods for internal components
- Use encapsulation patterns to expose functionality safely
- Avoid making internal model interfaces directly accessible
### 2. API Completeness
- Ensure all public interfaces have both compression and decompression methods
- Implement complete CRUD operations for all major data structures
- Provide bidirectional operations for all transformation functions
### 3. Type Safety
- Add explicit type annotations for complex generic operations
- Use type aliases for frequently used complex types
- Implement proper type inference helpers
### 4. Error Handling
- Implement comprehensive error handling for all operations
- Use Result types consistently throughout the codebase
- Provide clear error messages for type mismatches
## Testing Procedures
### Unit Tests
```bash
# Run specific unit tests
cargo test test_bf16_conversion
cargo test test_teleport_compression_bf16
```
### Integration Tests
```bash
# Run full integration tests
cargo test --lib
```
### Type Safety Tests
```bash
# Check for type safety issues
cargo check
cargo clippy
```
## Common Issues and Solutions
### Issue: BF16 Precision Loss
**Symptom**: Inaccurate compression/decompression results
**Solution**: Verify BF16 conversion functions maintain precision within acceptable bounds
### Issue: Quantum State Coherence
**Symptom**: Quantum compression fails or produces inconsistent results
**Solution**: Ensure entanglement calculations maintain quantum coherence
### Issue: MoE Routing Failures

```
### Memory Usage Monitoring
```rust
// Add memory usage checks
use std::mem;
println!("Memory usage: {} bytes", mem::size_of::<YourStruct>());
```
### Performance Profiling
```bash
# Profile with cargo

cargo profdata --bin your_binary
```
