## 1. Abstract
The **Emoji Machine** is a class of "weird machines" where the computational path is defined by a self-referential Lookup Table (LUT). Unlike traditional state machines where an external algorithm dictates the transition, the Emoji Machine's transition is encoded directly as its output. Specifically, for a given state (represented as a Unicode codepoint), the LUT returns a value that is simultaneously the machine's output and its next-state address.
This architecture is functionally equivalent to a physically-encoded "Rainbow Table" or a phase-locked n-dimensional coordinate system (see `worm_lut.md`).

## 2. Mathematical Definition
### 2.1 Emoji_Machine_Core (Model 160)
The core primitive is a mapping function $f$:
$$
\text{bind}_{\text{emoji}}(s) \mapsto (e, s_{\text{next}})
$$
Where:
- $s, e, s_{\text{next}} \in \text{Unicode}$ (Complete character space)
- **Axiom of Self-Reference**: $s_{\text{next}} = e$
- **Total Function**: The mapping is exhaustive for the defined codepoint range.
### 2.2 Emoji_Machine_Bounded (Model 161)
To ensure hardware-native extraction (e.g., Lattice iCE40), the state space is restricted to the **Basic Multilingual Plane (BMP)**:
$$
s, e, s_{\text{next}} \in \text{Fin } 65536 \quad (16\text{-bit index})
$$
This allows the machine to be implemented as a simple $2^{16}$ entry LUTRAM in FPGA fabric.
---
## 3. The Recovery Claim (Model 162)
The fundamental invariant of the Emoji Machine is the **Structural Consistency Proof**. For any valid trajectory $T$ through state space, the LUT must be "locked" such that every observed output $e_p$ at position $p$ is the unique successor $s_{next}$ defined by the machine's path.
$$
\forall p \in T, \text{LUT}[p] = T_{p+1}
$$
> [!WARNING]
> This claim is subject to **adversarial path injection**. If the LUT is not cryptographically signed (e.g., via the PBACS Layer 3 Void Mask), an attacker can inject "impossible" emoji sequences to force the machine into prohibited state quadrants.
---
## 4. Security: The Emoji Filter
As documented in `0-Core-Formalism/lean/Semantics/Semantics/Tests.lean`, the system implements an `emojiFilter` to mitigate adversarial use of the machine:
```lean
def emojiFilter : FilterRule := {
name := "emoji_rejection",
predicate := λ f => f.name.contains "🎉",
relevance := Relevance.adversarial,
reason := "Emoji sequences can encode unintended computation paths"
}
```
This filter ensures that raw Unicode payloads containing certain emoji sequences are rejected unless they are part of a verified, constraint-satisfied trajectory.
---
## 5. Connection to PBCS / GEO-DNA
The Emoji Machine acts as the "Transport Layer" for the **GEO-DNA Hybrid System**. Character sequences (trajectories) are treated as geometric DNA strands. The machine's $O(1)$ lookup complexity enables real-time synchronization between the topological phononic computer and the atomic excitation loop in the hydrogen core.
